An Epidemiological Survey on the Clonorchiasis in the Han River Sides

Abstract
A survey was conducted to observe the prevalence of clonorchis sinensis in Han River sides. Intradermal tests for clonorchiasis were performed for 664 inhabitants of the river side villages. Also performed were microscopic examinations for metacercaria in a total of 1, 399 fresh water fishes of 19 species which were obtained from north and south Han River during the period of July 1974 to August 1975.
1) The results of the examinations in north Han-River sides revealed that the positive rates of clonorchiasis to intraderml test for inhabitants of Chung-Pyong, Kang-Chon, Chyun-Chun and In-Jae were 22.9% (Male 25.4%, Female 16.6%), 29% (M. 33.8%, F. 14.0%), 24.6% (M. 28.6%, F. 8.3%) and 20.5% (M. 23.9%, F. 15.2%), respectively.
2) In south Han-River side, on the other hand, the postive rates of clonorchiasis in Yang-Su-Ri, Yeo-Chju and Dan-Yang areas were 24. 1% (M. 30. 7%, F. 12.9%1), 31.4%(M. 46.9%, F. 9.1%), 22.8%(M. 32.2%, F. 6.1%) and 23.9%(M. 34.5%, F. 9.60), respectively.
3) It was shown that the positive rates of clonorchiasis are higher in male inhabitants than in female.
4) In the age group of 2060 years, 88-98% of male and 31.-57% of female responded to have experienced in "eating raw fresh water fishes".
5) The snails (P. manchouricus) were observed in all over the areas surveyed, and v, ere found in various types of bodies of water such as ditches, streams and reservoirs in the low flat area.
6) Nine out of 19 species of fresh water fishes examined in this experiment were found to contain metacercaria of clonorchis sinensis, and they are Hemibarbus longirostris, Opsariichthys bidens, Pseudogobio esocinus, Carassius carassius, Hemibarbus labeo, Cyprinus carpio. Pseudorasbora parva, Zacco platypus, Acanth.orhodeus assmussi.
